With Internet Marketing, it’s not always about finding keywords to drive traffic. I’m sure you have dozens of keywords driving traffic to your websites but the question is do these visitors turn into buyers?

If they don’t they all your keywords did was target nothing but the tire kickers. You know who I mean, the people just surfing for information and are not ready to make a purchase. Regardless of the reason, this traffic doesn’t convert into sales.

Buyer keywords are the keywords used by people ready to whip out their credit cards. This group of people have done all the research, know what they want and now all they want to do is buy XYZ. These are the kinds of keywords you should be targeting. Buyer keywords represent a psychological pattern of “willingness to buy”.

There are many different Keywords Generator programs that can help you find these “buyer keywords”.

Keyword Elite is just one of those tools that excels in this regard.

For example let’s say you want to target the keyword “affiliate marketing guide”. Using Keyword Elite can help you drill down some other keywords associated with “affiliate marketing guide” and help you discover the psychological “triggers” that people use when they are ready to buy this product.

You know that consumers already know the name of the product, and most affiliate marketers will generally speaking target the product name, but now you need the “trigger words” or as I like to call them the “Buyer Keywords”

Now imagine you are marketing with Google AdWords. Without using or knowing these keywords you will be wasting your money on useless expensive non buying keywords in your campaigns? Are you willing to pay for terms and keywords on people not ready to buy yet?

This same idea applies to Article Marketing or Social Media Marketing. Why spend time and energy to create an article for a keyword that does not directly turn into a customer making a purchase?

How Can You Find These Buyer Keywords?

* Get into the mindset of your market and identify the buyers.
* Discover which products consumers are spending money.
* Find customers whose resistance to buying is at a minimum.
* Knock out your competition.
* Reduce the amount you need to persuade consumers.
* Make your offers incredibly convincing

Yes it is true with some thought and research you can find and discover these keywords without using any tools, but I don’t know about you but I would rather spend my time creating new campaigns and constantly building and letting good solid tools do the work for me. At the end of the day it’s all about finding building and creating profitable campaigns.

It doesn’t matter if you are an article marketer, social media junkie or a PPC Guru, if you can create more campaigns, articles and linkwheels faster, then at the end of of the you will find more profitable niches, this is exactly why I arm myself with tools that work.

Are you ready to discover the Buyer Keywords that will sky rocket your Earnings? Keyword Elite is the tool that will find you the right keywords for your campaign. Download Keyword Elite now.

Today I decided to expand on my keyword research tutorial by going into more detail about finding and using effective keywords properly. I’ve received a lot of questions on how to apply this and after giving it some thought I decided to do something not a lot of affiliate marketers do, and that is show you a real live example of a niche I decided to try and promote.

The reason is to show you exactly how I did my keyword research using another practical example. In the main keyword research tutorial I used the keyword ideas behind keyword marketing research as the example but this time we are going to look at an actual niche. Again this is something that I haven’t seen any affiliate marketer do, but I am going to break that mold so that the new guy trying to make money online or an affiliate marketer that is struggling his face off to try and make more then 100 bucks a month can see exactly how all this applies to a real niche.

Again finding and using profitable keywords isn’t hard to do, but it does require work, and I’m going to show you exactly how I did it and explain why I did it. Now you might be thinking I will be shooting myself in the foot since I will be revealing one of my niches. Well, if I do oh well, there’s still 100’s of others niches to work.

I started this exercise off on May 1st. I also wanted to start this off with a niche I know nothing about or have ever marketed before, so in essence I am starting right from scratch just like a newbie internet marketer.

Step One – I need a Niche. Now there are lots of resources for finding ideas, the main 2 I use are;

Yahoo Buzz
Google Trends

What struck my fancy here was the Niche Webkinz. Now for those who don’t know, webkinz are stuffed toys with codes that kids can enter online and play within a virtual pet world. I only know this because my kids have a couple each. So even with this limited knowledge I know that kids are eating these things up, but the questions is, can I promote this stuff as an affiliate and make money?..Sure can here’s how.

First let me say that I am trying to answer a few basic questions before I decide to actually try and develop any niche.

What is the Potential Traffic this Niche Might Have?
Is there anyone Buying this Stuff Online?
Is there an affiliate program and are there any other Affiliates?

Usually on a niche I have no idea about the first question I want to answer is, Is there anyone even buying this stuff (niche) Online? No sense putting in a ton of work, if the niche won’t convert to $$$. You can have the most effective keywords in the world but if the niche doesn’t convert to $$$ then there’s no money in it, or not enough $$$ to make my work worthwhile. Now I will say sometimes a niche will tank and sometimes it’ll take off huge in a big way. There really isn’t any magical wand that says this niche is going to be a big time money maker..a good example is last month I took 6 niches from clickbank to develop, guess what happened? 3 of the 6 made money and the others tanked. That is just the name of the game when it comes to making money online. I have no real idea if this niche (Webkinz) will make me any money, but by doing my homework I can minimize the amount of times a niche tanks.

That said for a quick qualifier to find out if a niche sells is to use ebay pulse

Ebay Pulse

Here I can quickly look at categories a niche sits in and evaluate the market fast. Now here’s an Ebay tip that not a lot of people use to determine if a product sells or not. Remember just because you find 1000’s of listings within a niche doesn’t mean it’s selling. Lots of people try to sell on ebay and they tank. So here’s what you do. Once you find a category look on the right hand side for the box titled completed items. Make sure you check this off and filter the results using this. What this does is show you all the completed auctions for that niche. Here’s the secret. What ever is listed in green sold whatever is in red didn’t. See screen shot

Ok quickly we can see people are buying in this Niche, so this passes my first check.

Step 2 – Now I followed my keyword research tutorial to get me to the point of having about a dozen potential effective keywords that look promising, now we need to get to the meat and potatoes. this is what today’s post will help you do, take that list of potential effective keywords and take keyword marketing research to the next level. This is effective keyword development in motion.

For this purpose I like to use 2 free tools;

Google Trends
Wordtracker Free Tools

Now for the real work. It takes time but here is where I am trying to answer the rest of the questions I posed above.

To help narrow down what is effective and what isn’t the goal is to match up keywords from our google list that meets specific criteria. Low enough competition and high enough search potential by web visitors to make it worth our while.

You can use your own criteria for a quide but in doing my own keyword research I try to find and use keywords that have less then 100,000 competing websites with a keyword inside “” marks and one that has more then 30-50 hits a day. 100 hits a day would be golden but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way, so go with what you think you can manage. By finding effective keywords that meet these 2 criteria we have found the low hanging fruit for any niche. The idea is when I create keyword focused content around these profitable keywords, I have a good chance to score well and perhaps even get indexed on the front page of google for those keywords.

So after doing some more legwork on my potential profitable keywords here is what I found.

retired webkinz, 39,500, 50
cheap webkinz, 20,900, 40
webkinz love puppy, 20,000, 65
webkinz recipies, 2,700, 130
webkinz codes, 42,000, 315
webkinz secret code, 19,000 , 50
webkinz recipes, 49,000, 667
webkinz secret codes, 26,000, 90

The first column is the total competition from google with the keywords in quotes, again trying to find those that have less then 100,000. and next is the number of hits.

Step 3 – Start developing content for these keywords. Now for this niche I will be using both Amazon and Ebay affiliate programs as my money makers. I did this because for this Niche it seemed to be the best way to go. But this can apply to any affiliate network program it all depends on the niche. The key to developing good content is use of the effective keywords.

For example the first keyword, “retired webkinz”. To score well with this keyword I need either a domain name with the keyword in it, or use a sub domain name from free content places like squidoo and huppages and use this keyword. Plus the keyword should also be used within titles of my posts, bolded in my content, mentioned and cleverly written into the content sentance structure. The idea being to tell google hey, this keyword is important.

Now to make maximum use of the traffic potential here you need to take it to the next level. It’s ok to create one page around this keyword, but what if you created a bunch of legit webpages focused around this keyword. For example take any one of your niches you have that is indexed. Great isn’t it? You are 1 of 10 possible results on any given google result search. You pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Now for the killer part, that doesn’t mean your going to get all the traffic now doesn’t it? Nope, your 1 in 10 bidding for the visitors attention.

Now take out of the equation the idea of great titles, great webpages summaries etc how else can you dominate that page? Simple, be more then 1 of the 10 listed results. To do this you need clusters. Clusters of sites all focused all around the same keyword and each site acts like a funnel to your product service or affiliate link.

Here’s what I mean with this niche we are studying
http://www.squidoo.com/retired-webkinz-online
http://retired-webkinz.blogspot.com/
http://retiredwebkinzonline.wordpress.com/

Here are three pages of content I created, all focused around 1 keyword, can you guess which one? Take a look at each webpage, study them what do you see? The keyword “retired webkinz” is in the title, it’s part of the posts titles, I’ve used the keyword in the content itself, the whole idea is the page is built around this one keyword. heck even the name for the site itself has the keyword. Get the idea? Now I just made these, and the goal will be to work these later on and get them indexed. Hopefully, google rewards me with a front page listing. Imagine for sake of argument google does. Guess what? Now if someone searches for this keyword I will be on that front page 3 times. The visitor doesn’t know this, but that’s ok, the idea is I am trying to dominate this keyword and set up all my pages in such a way so as to funnel the visitor to my affiliate link and make a sale.

Step 4 – Rinse and Repeat. Create clusters for each for keyword you did keyword research on. Write articles with those keywords in it, the idea being anytime anyone does a search on this niche All of your sites are found everywhere. This is the base premise behind dominating any niche. This is keyword marketing researching and how to start using profitable keywords.

Now the secret. These steps work with any affiliate marketing program. I doesn’t matter if it’s a product from clickbank, CJ or any of the CPA networks this is how to take your keyword research to the next level. In fact I’ve actually given you more top secret money making tips in this post then most ebooks do and I gave it to you for nothing because everyone that wants to put the time and effort into learning how to make money online should be able to, without getting scammed.

So get out there do your own keyword marketing research and make some money.

I get asked a lot about how to find the most effective keywords for either a blog, article or any other content driven page for affiliate marketing. So I decided to make a quick tutorial on how to find the most profitable keywords using only free keyword research tools. We won’t be relying on any paid keyword tools like keyword elite or any other keyword software program as I wanted to show how you really don’t need these programs to find keywords. In fact for the purpose of this tutorial, we are only going to use 3 tools; Googles free keyword suggestion tool, wordtrackers free keyword tool and google search itself.

Now I also wanted to also show a working example in progress, so I also decided to show how I went about creating this tutorial and how I chose the keywords that I chose for the purpose of writing this tutorial. I feel by showing you how I did this it’ll give you ideas on to apply this keyword strategy to your own blog and articles and help you make more money with clickbank or other affiliate marketing programs. Ok, enough with the tutorials preamble let’s get to it.

By the end of the tutorial hopefully you see how I chose for this post the following keywords,

free keyword research
keyword marketing research
keyword elite
find keywords
profitable keywords
effective keywords
keyword strategy
most popular keyword
using keywords

Now for you keeners out there, you’ll notice that I have used most of these keywords already in this tutorial, so let’s now take a look at how I got here. The first step to in finding effective keywords is to fire up googles free suggestion tool. First let me say that as I did my screen grabs for this tutorial and sized them down I lost some resolution so forgive me, I should have taken the screen grabs at a lower rez so the image would be closer to your eye..but I think you’ll get the idea

Ok in this first screen grab you can see I just did a quick inquiry on the general term “keyword research”. Now a lot of people don’t really like Googles tool because it gives you the results in bar graph form, and I’m no exception here so I like to import the results in Excel to help me make sense of the data better. The easiest way to do that for people who don’t know is the scroll down to the end of the list and click on csv for excel see second screen grab for what I mean. Just simply click on the middle option and open in Excel. I know this may seem boring to some of you, but I keep in mind I am trying to walk people through how I do this.

Screen Grab2

This third screen grab is where things get interesting. First thing you will notice is excel converts all that crappy bar graph information and displays it as a number. This is a lot better in helping you find the most popular keywords a lot easier. At least you can make sense of a number, right? Ok quickly sort out the columns so you can read the data and the first thing I do is create 2 columns to the right of googles results. You don’t have to name them what I did, it’s just what I prefer to do. Since the quality of my screen grabs is low here is the 2 forumulas I use.

=average(Avg Search Volume, Advertiser Competition) . Now I know this is making an average of an average but it’s a fast and easy way to help qualify the result into 1 number. I do this mainly because if I am trying to market a niche or product from clickbank, I do not want to spend days trying to create a keyword strategy, I want to quickly find the most profitable keywords and identify the ones I might use for articles, blog post titles etc..so again this formula help me to do just that..

The next formula I use is simply a TRUE/FALSE statement. The formula is

=E2 <.6

What I am doing is just a quick and dirty way to sort the list into true and false. What I am doing is trying to find the quick low hanging fruit. I want to find keywords that are not already saturated by my competition but have enough search volume to make it worth my while targeting. You can chose whatever value you want I just like to use <.6 as a rough quick and dirty value. Anything higher then .6 will probably be either too saturated or if I will be running a PPC campaign on it be more costly per click. The following screen grab now shows the results from these 2 formulas.

You can see here the correlation I am talking about the 2 keywords, “keyword research” and “keyword research tool”, fail my criteria right off the bat. It is also interesting to note that they have a high competition value as well a 1 and a 0.93 that’s high. So more then likely these are not the most profitable keywords, in fact they will probably be the most expensive ones.

Picture 6 needs some explanation so you understand how I get to this point in my keyword strategy. Ok when I started researching for this tutorial, I used both result tables from googles suggestion tool. The starting result was over 200 keywords. Again my goal is to find the most effective keywords that has the potential to drive the most traffic to this tutorial blog post, and also have the potential to be the most cost effective as well in terms of PPC campaigns. So using Excel’s AUTO FILITER I start deleting keywords. I delete right off the bat all my “false” items, then I delete out any other results that are high in the competition department. Then I delete out any of the keywords that don’t have enough search volume I feel make it worth my effort. The finally I look at my results and start deleting out keywords that I think don’t fit the topic of article, blog etc. So screen grab number 6 represents the final possible keyword list. I have now trimmed the keywords from over 200 to now only 24 effective keywords.

Screen grab number 7 shows where most of the leg work starts. I like to keep all my keyword marketing research in one excel file. It’s easier to work with, it makes it quick for me to use as a guide when making articles and just plain saves me a lot of time. So I makes 3 more columns. One, for the results from wordtrackers free tool and two columns for google search results. Some internet marketers will only look at the google search results with “” surrounding the keyword, I like to look at both. It only takes 2 extra seconds to do, and sometimes you can see dramatic differences. Also sometimes you can’t always avoid high google results in your filtered keyword list, so sometimes you will just have to try and compete on those keywords. That’s just the name of the game. For the purpose of this tutorial this became the case as you can see.

To get all the data here in these three columns you need to simply cut and paste each keyword into wordtracker and into google search. Now something interesting happened here. Wordtracker isn’t giving me any daily search volumes on all of my remaining keywords here except for 4. Does this mean all the rest of the keywords in my list of 24 are garbage, no it doesn’t, it’s just something to take notice of. Now I also cut and pasted into the columns the total search results with quotes around my keywords and without. You can see here that one of wordtracker results is also something that has a high search result number. This is what I am talking about sometimes you have to use and try and compete on these keywords. My last keyword on this list was, “using keywords” wordtrackers reports a daily search volume of 27 that’s decent but there are 1.4 million competing pages using that keyword. Ouch pretty tough to get on the first page, but since only 4 keywords from wordtracker gave me anything, I think I’ll trust wordtracker and use all four keywords and go for it.

The basic idea here is to try and find keywords that both have enough daily search volume to make it worth trying to make money on and low enough search results that your blog post, article etc might get indexed on the front page of google. I like to try and go for keywords that have at least 10 daily hits. The reason being, 10 times 30 days is 300 possible hits. Say for example my blog post or article did get indexed on the front page, not everyone is going to click through but I have a potential pool of 300 monthly visitors on this keyword. So if you figure if I can pull 50% of those to click to my page then I’m pitching to 150 now..A dramatic drop, it’s also a dramatic drop to my potential sales as well. If the clickbank product I decided to push converts at say 5% then I might have 7 potential sales on this keyword. So if I start targeting lower daily values of less then 10 you can see how my potential sales for that keyword start dropping. This is what we are doing here in this exercise trying to find and weed out profitable keywords. In this case wordtracker wasn’t too kind to me, so while I will use all 4 results, I also won’t rely on it either. For the most part you’ll discover when you target a niche wordtracker will give you more information then this tutorial pulled. But hey I’m keeping it real.

In conclusion,

I hope this tutorial helped you see how you can do free keyword research without a paid tool like keyword elite to find the most profitable keywords for your niche. Again I usually save out this file and use it as a guide now. This list of 24 keywords could turn into 50 articles, and depending on the niche I’m targeting this is exactly what I’ll do. Remember the key to making money with keywords is not only finding effective keywords but also now dominating the net with those keywords you have found. Create blogs with these keywords in your title, write articles using these keywords the idea is anyone searching for this term will find your blog post or article everywhere on the net. The more they see “you” the more likely they will click.
