Went to the squidoo lens. Twitter still doesn't excite me. People who follow you after reading your blog posts are probably the best people who will visit your site when they see an update posted by you. For me twitter is the new RSS feed.

The best way I have found is a program called free blog commenter. I hate the fact that it makes spam easier, but I do like the ability to search for blogs by topic that I am interested in and if I do decide to comment, this makes it easier to do so. As for the backlinks, if a user takes the time to make an intelligable (sp) comment and if it is relevant, they deserve a no-follow link.

DoFollow blogs are great. But I'd also remind people to use other methods to gain backlinks like articles and forums. You also want a mix of NoFollow with your DoFollows. It's more natural which is what Google wants.

Whilst I agree with the posts concept of seeking out the dofollow links it should be taken in context. I have sites that have text links back to my site recorded by Google that I know were nofollow comments boxes.
Whilst Googlebot may not be "following" the link it is still recording the existence of the link. What the current scene is with the Google algorithm regarding nofollow can only be assumed because nobody outside Google really knows for sure.
So whilst I agree that one would predominantly seek out dofollow linking I would also suggest that that if you feel moved to make a comment on someone's blog or post then do so regardless of the potential "Google luv" you are going to get back.

I came to a similar realization. For a while there I kept Googling for the term "dofollow" to find those sites.

But there aren't that many sites that declare it. Many of those that follow don't say so. I realized that they almost always had the commentluv plugin. So I started searching for them, and checked the link properties with Firefox.

Searching for keywordluv is another good method. There's another plugin called commentmilk which is gaining popularity, too. So that's worth searching for also, I think.
